Suggestions to solve some working problems of the products

Hand grease guns, pneumatic grease guns and battery grease guns (cordless)

PROBLEMS

POSSIBLE CAUSE

CORRECTIVE ACTION

The grease gun

doesn’t dispense

Air in the cartridge or in the cylinder of the grease gun

Unscrew the cap on the head and let leak

The grease gun for cartridges is locked

The cartridge has been badly fit

Open the head, remove the cartridge and assemble it in the correct way ( follow the direction of the arrow printed on the cartridge)

The grease gun doesn’t work with the cartridge

Type of cartridge is not suit to that grease gun

Unscrew the head, remove the cartridge and check the diameter of the cartridge with the plunger diameter. If this components are not suitable, it is necessary to use a cartridge fit to that grease gun or only loose grease

During the use of the grease gun a part of grease flows behind the plunger

The grease gun is manufactured to be utilized with the cartridge (check the diameter)

To open the head, remove the grease behind the plunger and use the grease gun with the correct cartridge.

The pneumatic grease gun doesn’t dispense grease

(no movement of the plunger inside)

Breaking of the spring inside the head

Unscrew the cover of the head and replace the spring

The battery grease gun (cordless) dispense grease

(no noise inside)

The battery is discharged (it happens also after a long period of inactivity)

Charge the battery ( it would be better to charge completely the battery and to get it cool before the recharge

The battery grease gun (cordless) doesn’t recharge when it will be fixed on the battery charger

The battery charger and the terminals of the battery could be corroded or dirty

Clean the terminals with a rough cloth

The battery is damaged or it is not rechargeable.

Replace the battery

The battery charger is damaged (it becomes warm and produces a strong noise, or it produces smoke during the charge)

Remove immediately the plug from the socket.

Replace the battery charger

The battery grease gun (cordless) doesn’t dispense (low noise, the engine turns empty-handed)

Do not insist with the action because it could irreparably damage

Lack of the grease in the tank.

Fill the tank.

The exit hole is obstructed

Clean the exit hole.

The grease come out from the valve of the battery grease gun (cordless)

The exit hole and/or the bearings are obstructed.

Clean the exit hole and also the internal bearings (don’t spoil the safety valve).

Barrel pumps for grease

PROBLEMS

POSSIBLE CAUSE

CORRECTIVE ACTION

The barrel pump doesn’t work ( the lever is locked)

The plunger is locked

Open the pump, unscrewing the nuts, to remove the cover and clean the plunger.

If this cleaning operation isn’t enough, it is necessary to order a new spare part plunger.

The barrel pump doesn’t dispense the grease

The coupler and the exit hose are obstructed.

Clean or replace the coupler and the exit hose.

Air operated grease pump - refer to the instruction manual for the figures and references

PROBLEMS

POSSIBLE CAUSE

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Motor does not start

1) Some foreign matter is blocking the alternating movement;

2) Distributor valve blocked;

3) Air discharged iced.

1) Unscrew the pipe (part.4 fig. A) and clean filter (part.5 fig. A).

Check and move pin (part.3 fig.A);

2) Disassemble distributor body, removing pipe (part.24 fig. B), screws (part.14 fig. B) and check the free movement on the nylon valve. Re-assemble and take care to position the valve into the reversing bush seat (part.22).

3) Remove silencer and increase pressure.

Air leakage from the silencer

1) Distributor valve worn out;

1) Unscrew as indicated in the chap. maintenance and check that nylon valve striking surface is neither deformed nor dirty, nor blocked in its movement (part.35)

Air leakage through pumping element

1) Faulty lip seal (part.18 fig. B)

1) Change seal.

Motor deceleration while working

1) Water at air inlet, causing condensing effect.

1) Fit a filter with condensate separator.

Pump does not stop

1) Dry running;

2) Ball by-pass (part.11 fig.B) is not closing because of impurities in the grease ;

3) Valve (part.6 fig.B) blocked or ruined.

1) Check that there is no vacuum near suction pipe (part.4 fig.B).

Eventually fit a plate with membrane;

2)The ball is dirty. Pump oil to purge for 10 min.;

3)Unscrew valve body (part.7 fig.B) and check that valve (part.6 fig.B) turns freely around the pin (part.3 fig.B) and that it is turned towards the motor (groove upwards).

Mechanical flow-meter

PROBLEM

POSSIBLE CAUSE

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Leak from the shaft gasket

Damaged gasket

Remove (see section “Gear unit”) and replace the O-ring (pos. “22”) and the bush

Insufficient accuracy

Wrong calibration

Repeat calibration following the instruction in section “Measuring chamber”

Soiled or blocked measuring chamber

Clean the measuring chamber following the instruction in section “Meter unit”

Air in the fluid

Locate and eliminate leaks in inlet lines

Reduced flow rate

Clogged or blocked measuring chamber

Clean the measuring chamber following the instructions in section “Measuring chamber”

Blocked or soiled filter

Clean the filter

Electric pumps 12-24 Volt (art.228-228/A, 817, 818)

PROBLEM

POSSIBLE CAUSE

CORRECTIVE ACTION

The motor is not turning

Lack of electric power

Check the electrical connections and the safety systems

Rotor jammed

Check for possible damage or obstruction of the rotating components

Motor problems

Contact the Service Department

The motor turns slowly when starting

Low voltage in the electric power line

Bring the voltage back within the anticipated limits

Low or no flow rate

Low level in the suction tank

Refill the tank

Foot valve blocked

Clean and/or replace the valve
